It has been over 6 years since I started The Shamgar Report. Most of that time has been spent right here on this site. However I have decided to take my blogging in another direction. Lately I have been sharing videos on a variety of topics, and will continue to do so on Twitter and Myspace.

Also you will find my articles on Gather.com and Christian Forums. I will keep this blog opened and may return in the future, but for now it will remain only as a archive.

Herman Cain Is My Second Choice

Last year I wrote an article about John Peter Zenger, the man who defended Freedom of the Press in colonial times. Sadly he is man who seems to be fading from the pages of American History. He was born in Germany and came to America as an indentured servant at the age of 13. Twenty-five years later he became publisher of the New York Weekly Journal.

In a way, Herman Cain reminds me a John Peter Zenger. He came from a humble background from a family who worked hard to make ends meet. Despite all the obstacles that he faced in life, Herman Cain obtained an education. He moved up the cooperate ladder, and became CEO Godfathers Pizza. His life shows that The American Dream can be obtained.

Most know that I am a Ron Paul supporter. In 2008 I wrote many articles supporting his candidacy for President. They can still be found on this site. However in the last election I did not really have a second choice. Now I do.

Many successful people, from humble beginnings, push aside the values that they were taught as a child. Eventually they lose the guts to stand for what is right. John Peter Zenger kept his courage, and it seems that Herman Cain has done the same.

It also a breath of fresh air to find someone who wants America to be America. We live in a time where our nation is being pushed to become more European. This is a nation that will always have pints, quarts, and gallons. A metric politician is simply wasting his time. There is still a remnant of people who still believe in The American Dream.

Herman Cain believes in The American Dream. He has lived it and wants our children to have it as well.

Will We Ever Have An Air Tax?

Today we live in a society where each person is a slave to taxes. Our gas, water, food, and in Arkansas there is a special tax for soda pop. What is really sad is the people of Arkansas voted this tax in several years ago. Everywhere you go and anything you do, a tax is there to greet you.

The only thing that I can think of that is not taxed is air. However I am sure it will happen one day. Most likely, some loon will come up with a formula to tax individuals for how much air they consume each year.

You may think this is ridicules. I thought the same about a special soda pop tax, and it did become reality. Just the other day I read where Obama want’s to tax the mileage on our vehicles. So don’t be surprised if this becomes a reality one day.

When taxes are out of control, there is no boundaries on the insanity. So don’t be surprised if you wake up one morning to find that an air tax has become law.

I just want to say that it is nice to see our nation come together once again. It seems that partisan politics can create divisions, and bitterness. Often, in political debate, we say things to others that we later regret. Yet despite the differences we may have, in the end we are all Americans.

When the Twin Towers fell, America united. When Bin Laden was killed America was united once again. This shows that in tragedy and victory our nation can come together.

I met Mitch Kawahara when I was 7 years old. He attended seminary with my dad, and spent some time in out home. After graduating he returned to Japan and has served as a Missionary for over 40 years. Thanks to facebook I have reconnected with Mitch after all these years.

I was really touched the other day when Neil Cavuto paid tribute to Geraldine Ferraro. Even though they disagreed on many things, Mr. Cavuto only had kinds words to say on the former Congresswoman’s behalf. It showed his true character and his true professionalism.

Can you image if this would have been Sarah Palin? Do you think Bill Maher would pay her a kind tribute like Cavuto paid Ferraro? Most likely he would trash her, and then the far left would go on about how intelligent he is.

Since watching this tribute I have come to have a greater respect for Neil Cavuto. One must admit, he doesn't make fun of people the way Bill Maher has done on may occasions. I don’t who has the highest IQ, but Cavuto is a far better human being than Bill Maher.

Taco Flavored Doritos and Mark Spitz

It seems we all have memories of our childhood that never leave our thoughts. When I was a kid back in the 70’s, one of my favorite snacks was taco flavored Doritos. My mom always made sure I had a package in my lunch box. The other day, when I was in the grocery store, I noticed they had returned. They still taste good as they did over 38 years ago.

Another childhood memory were the 1972 Olympics. Mark Spitz excited the hearts of all Americans when he won his eight gold medal. Sadly as the years went by he seemed to fade away. Today he can be seen doing gold commercials for Lear Capital. He is now an older man, but it is still good to see him on the silver screen again.

Today our world is filled with many problems, and things appear to be getting darker. However at times great memories can live again. The return of taco flavored Doritos and Mark Spitz brings a bit of happiness in my heart.

If Democrats Are So Great

All my life I have heard the Republicans are horrible and Democrats are wonderful. However I always ask myself if Democrats are so wonderful why do they lose elections? Also if they are so great, why don’t we have a one party system in the United States?

One example is Franklin D. Roosevelt who was elected to four terms. As a kid I was always heard how wonderful he was, and how he saved the world. Once again, if FDR was so wonderful, why were terms limits set on the office of President shortly after his death?

Today I hear how wonderful Bill Clinton was, and how the economy boomed. Yet they fell to mention how the economy sank his last six months in office. Then again I ask if Bill Clinton was so great, why did the Republicans gain a majority in both houses two years after he took office?

In 2008, we were told how great Obama was, and that he could not fail. Anyone who spoke out against him was called stupid. Once again if Obama is so great, why did the Republicans do so well in 2010? An example, my home state of Arkansas. Republicans rarely win in this state. However in 2010, Republicans won a Senate seat, three Congressional districts, and three state-wide offices.

In my lifetime, the Republican party has been declared dead on three different occasions. This was stated after the victories of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barak Obama. Of course this was not the case. Then again these are the same people who call everyone else stupid.

No one political party or President is to blame for our present state. In reality there is enough blame to go around. Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush did not cause all the problems we have in this world.

Once again I ask if Democrats are so great, why do they lose elections?

I have talked about this subject on many occasions, and have been criticized for it. In 2008 I wrote articles taking about how no human leader can save a nation. The Obama supporters lashed out with hostility, and a hatred never seen before in a Presidential Election. However once again history repeats itself. No one human can save a nation.

In Old Testament times, before Israel had a king, each tribe pretty much ruled itself. When a national crisis occurred the people would go to a judge. He or she would based their decisions on the Law of Moses. Every person, regardless of political position was bound these laws. The system was flawed because people are not perfect, As with every nation evil leaders would often abuse their power.

In I Samuel Chapter 8:1-3, we find that the judge Samuel had grown old, and appointed his sons to serve in his place. The scriptures states that they took bribes and perverted judgement. This resulted in a national outcry, and the people demanded a king. Samuel tried to convince Israel not to go in that direction, but they would not listen. God gave into their demands and Saul was anointed king of Israel.

At first Saul was good king, but he gradually turned away from God. In his last years God quit talking to him and he turned to witchcraft. In the end he committed suicide and Israel was overtaken by the Philistines. Israel accomplished nothing by replacing Samuel’s son with Saul.

This can even be proven in modern times. The Shah of Iran was an evil man, and should have been driven from power. The people of Iran made the right choice in that matter. Their failure came where they did not set up a system where all people were bound to the law. Instead another tyrant took the Shah’s place.

Now we see Egypt is at the same crossroads. Will they replace one tyrant with another? Or will they form a nation where all people are bound by the law?

Only time will tell.

The biggest tragedy facing Egypt is that many innocent people are being harmed. This situation only proves what happens when a nation does not have a Constitution where all people are subject to it. Even those who are in power should be bound to it’s law.

From history, we see that problems are not solved by replacing one tyrant with another. People must come together to form a government where individual freedoms are protected, They must also set up a system which prevents one person from having sole rule. Our Founding Fathers did exactly this.

However this is not an easy task to accomplish. First the tyrant must be defeated, while keeping the masses in order. Once again our Founding Fathers did exactly this.

Let us pray for the people of Egypt. Pray one day that they can be free from tyranny, and mass destruction.

The Mighty Man Adino

In many of my articles I have written about the man known as Shamgar. The story of this man is found in the book of Judges 3:31. It records that he picked up an ox goad, (A pole with a sharp metal point.) and killed 600 Philistines.

The other day I was reading II Samuel 23:8, and discovered a man known as Adino the Enzite. He was one of King David’s mighty men, who killed 800 people in one battle. His only weapon was a spear.

The lives of these two men show that if you put your faith in God, he will defeat your enemies. We live in a time where Christians are being pushed aside, and our rights are being taken away.. However one person’s faith in God can make a difference. The key is simply trusting in God. Psalm 20:7 states, Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord out God.

As I have said many times before, just because an attractive politician can give a good speech does not mean he or she has all the answers. Hype can only take you so far, and when it runs out, you have absolutely nothing. The 2008 Presidential Election proves this point. On the other hand, when we turn to leaders who solely trust in God, great victories can be obtained. The lives of Shamgar and Adino are perfect examples of people trusting God.

I know many people who are going through hard times, and the future appears to be dark. The God of Shamgar and Adino still lives today. If we pray and read God’s word, he will provide all the answers.

This Has Been A Stressful Year

The last few weeks have been very stressful for me. As a matter of fact this has been one the most stressful years of my life. I enjoy writing, but I needed a break from my normal routine in life. In January I will once again writing my snippets on Snippet McMoo, and my blog The Shamgar Report.

This week I am on vacation, and will be able to spend Christmas with my daughter. She is 12, and will turn 13 New Year’s Eve. The last time we spent Christmas together she was only 4 years old. So this stressful year will end on a happy note.

In the past I have talked about the political divisions we have in America. I have looked beyond partisan politics, and see that America is divided between patriots and loyalist. Patriots love their country, and loyalist are loyal to a person, cause or an organization.My theory has been called simplistic, and I have been accused of using political labels. Then again the debate about using labels is very senseless. The other day I heard of anew division in America. They are the takers and the makers.

This year's election is defiantly a struggle between the makers and the takers. The makers are the ones who desire less government, and want to reach the American dream. They wish to reach their goals and not be punished through regulations and heavy taxation. On the other hand, the makers are dependent on society and see government as the answer.

Before Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson ,America was a Maker Society. Once this nation was a leader in inventions, entrepreneurship, and limited government. The United States was a unique county. Today we are now in a Taker Society, and America is now more European. Both parties can be blamed for this transition. The bailouts of Bush and Obama took this nation into a debt that will take generations to pay. Still we have hope.

In this year's election we have candidates who wish for America to return to a Maker Society status. I encourage everyone to look for candidates who support less government, and want to restore America to a Maker Society. Don’t look at party identification, read the platforms. Also don’t vote for a personality. Vote for America!

Originally I supported Tea Party activist Glenn Gallas in the Republican primary. Miss Rankin once worked on the staff of Mike Huckabee. This is why I didn't support her in the beginning. In my opinion Huckabee is not true conservative. However when Gallas was defeated I threw my support to Miss Rankin. She is still more conservative than Congressman Mike Ross.

Since Miss Rankin is a former Miss Arkansas, she does have name recognition. In Arkansas this is always a plus. I was also happy to see that Gallas was a good sport and endorsed her candidacy. The Republican party in Arkansas’ fourth district in united. Sadly this is not the same story in many parts of the country,

Many of the obstacles I faced this summer have been overcome, by the helping hand of Jesus Christ. In the last few weeks my outlook on life has changed. I have forgiven many, and the albatross has been freed from my neck. Now I can focus more on writing and upcoming election.

This year I am supporting Jim Keet for Governor of Arkansas. A few years ago I left the Republican Party, but when I see a candidate who is true conservative, party identification does not matter.

The Use of Political Labels

The terms liberal and conservative are often used when discussing American politics. Most realize that in America a liberal is for big government, and conservatives stands for less government. In some countries they may have different meanings, but when an American uses these terms, one should have the sense to know what they are talking about.

Often people will get mad when someone uses the term left or liberal. They will ask them what they mean. Afterwards they will give a pointless lecture on labels. What is amazing the same people will call others ignorant, stupid, and morons. However they will say these are descriptions and not labels. Just another example of their hypocrisy.

The issue of labels generally comes from the liberals or the left. They will go into what these terms means in different countries, and in different periods of time. And once they explain this, they will call you a name.

One thing I need to know is what I need to call them, since I cant use the term liberal or left anymore. Since they do practice double standards, I wonder is hypocrite would now be the proper name. This was proven when they forgave former Klansman Robert Byrd, ,after he made racist remarks in 2005.

Robert Byrd and Strum Thurmond

It amazes that Barack Obama and Bill Clinton forgave Robert Byrd of his racist past. The liberal press did not even mention his past association with the KKK in their obituaries. Sadly Strom Thurmond was never forgiven, and he was never a member of the KKK.

Trent Lott was forced to give up his seat as Senate Majority Leader because of the kind words he expressed on Thurmond’s behalf. In all fairness Obama should be set to the same standard as Trent Lott. He should resign because he praised the life of a former Klan leader. Also since Bill did the same, Hillary should resign as Secretary of State.

Of course we know Obama and Clinton will not be set to the same standard as Trent Lott. The far left believe in double standards, and this just another example. Their motto should be,“ Forgive Me! But Let Me Throw Stones At You!”

If Obama and Clinton were given a tickets for going 90 miles an hours down the highway, the life of that police officer would be totally destroyed. On the other hand, if George W. was stopped for going 5 miles over, The far left would go crazy. They would want to charge him for drunk driving, and give him life sentence in prison with no parole.

I am sure the history books will leave out the dark past of Robert Byrd, and he will be praised as champion of big government. Strom Thurmond will be painted as an evil racist who should never be forgiven.

Ask And It Shall Be Given

The last few most gave been stressful , and have sought the Lord for hope. When reading the scriptures this passage seems to be the answer I have been searching for.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew 7:7.

Red the Red Letters

Recently I wrote an article on which books of the Bible should a new convert read first. I stated that if I were to teach new converts the focus would be on Genesis, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts. Some had other opinions, and that is fine.

Often new coverts are taught opinion rather than truth. I would advise all people to have a bible which has a red letter edition. The words spoken by Christ himself provided answers and hope which all men need.

We may differ on which books to read first. Still I think most would agree that reading THE RED LETTERS is what really matters.

The Arkansas Primary and Rand Paul

This years primary in Arkansas was very exciting. Many thought Lt. Governor Bill Halter would defeat Senator Blanche Lincoln in the Democratic primary. To everyone’s surprise the third candidate, D.C. Morrison obtained double digits, forcing Lincoln and Halter in a run-off.

Both Lincoln and Halter are liberals who cater to special interest. Morrison is more conservative and favors term limits, and opposes government run healthcare. There is a possibility that his supporters will not show up at the polls for the June run-off. It will be interesting to see who will end up the victor.

I voted in the Republican primary, and voted for Glenn Gallas for Congress, and Jim Holt for the Senate. Both my candidates lost, but still will support the Republican candidate for Congress. How I will vote in the Senate race is undecided.

Former Miss Arkansas Beth Anne Rankin will face Democratic Congressman Mike Ross in Arkansas’ Fourth District. Ross is conservative in some areas, but his first loyalty is to the Democrat Party.

Republican Congressman John Boozeman will face either Lincoln or Halter in the Senate race. In addition two Independents, Trevor Drown and Christopher Nogy, will be on the November ballot. Also Greenland Mayor John Gray is the Green Party candidate. At the moment I am not sure who I will vote for in this race.

In Kentucky Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul, won the Republican nomination for the U.S, Senate. It will be a breath of fresh air to see a another true disciple of the Constitution in Washington. I wish Rand Paul a great victory in November, and maybe one day the White House.

The Honor of Motherhood

One of the greatest honors in this world is motherhood. Today we live in a world that praises women who excel in their given careers. In my lifetime I have seen the fist woman become a Justice to the Supreme Court and Speaker of the House. Also each of the major parties have had women as Vice Presidential candidates. Still these honors don’t equate with the gift of motherhood.

Let’s say that a woman comes to a fork in the road that leads to two separate destinations in life On one of the roads is a sign that states, PATH TO BECOMING THE FRIST WOMAN TO THE WHITE HOUSE. The sign to for the other road reads, PATH TO BECOMING A LOVING MOTHER. If this woman chooses the path of loving mother, she has made a wise choice.

No doubt history can be made on the first path. Still the course of history can be changed on that second path. If you go back in time many of the great people were influenced by their loving mothers. One example is Winston Churchill.

Mothers may not be remembered by name in the history books. Most likely they will not be given medals of honor, or worldly rank. Yet without their unconditional love, this world would be a darker place.

Where to Start Reading in the Bible

I have been teaching Revelation in Sunday School for the last two months, and have learned that it covers more than just end time events. Chapter 1 explains what has taken place, chapters 2 and 3 deal with what is taking place now, and the remainder reveals what is to come. Today many Christians have a deep interest in the future. However we should have an understanding of the past and present before reading Revelation.

You may wonder which book, in the Bible, should be read first. I would recommend to start with Genesis, the first book in the Old Testament. Genesis deals with the beginning, when he created all things. In this book we find the fall of man, and how the world was corrupted with sin. Despite all the wickedness in the world a King was promised.

As Genesis comes to a close, Jacob’s sons becomes the nation Israel. In chapter 49, he gives each of his 12 sons a blessing. Judah, the forth son, is given a very special blessing. In verse 8 through 11, Jacobs tell Judah that all his father’s children will one day bow to him. Judah is also described as being a lion cub.

After reading Genesis, I would recommend reading the Gospel of Matthew next. In Matthew 1 we find that the promise that Jacob gave his son Judah was fulfilled. Christ comes from the tribe of Judah, and of the seed of David. Often a lion is used as a symbol of a king. The gospel of Matthew proclaims Jesus as King.

After Matthew, I would recommend reading Mark, Luke John, and Acts. From these books one discovers that Christ is not only King, but a servant, the Son of Man, and the Son of God. In Acts we see the church carrying out the Great Commission which Jesus gave his followers right before he ascended into heaven. Also I would recommend a red letter edition, so the words of Christ can be easily found.

From reading these 5 books of the Bible we lean that man has sinned, and that Christ defeated sin at the cross. Also we learn that each believer should live for Christ until his return. Once we have learned these things, we can began studying the book of Revelation.

The Seventh Seal

This is the latest video produced by decop1 on the book of Revelation. In chapter 8 the seventh seal is opened, and seven angel with seven trumpets appear before God’s throne.
As each angel blows his trumpet, God’s wrath is poured on a world which has sworn allegiance for the Anti-Christ.

The first four trumpets are recorded in chapter 8.

First Trumpet-One third of vegetation destroyed.
Second Trumpet-One third of the sea becomes blood.
Third Trumpet-The falling star Wormwood
Forth Trumpet-the sun, moon, and star are smitten.

Little Kings Are Not the Answer

The last few years I have stated that hope cannot be found in political leadership. I used references in the Bible where the kings led Israel into division and captivity. Many called me a liar when I stated that our Founding Fathers believed in God. Then I read “Common Sense,” by Thomas Paine, and discovered that I was not liar. Thomas Paine made the reference about Israel’s mistake in seeking a human king.

In other articles I talked about how world empires were built , and how they had total disrespect for God. This can be found in Genesis before and after the Great Flood. All through the ages people have sought dependence through kingdoms, principalities and governments.

Once upon a time America was unique, and not like other nations. People were taught to be self-reliant, and that dependence upon society was not a good thing. Sadly things started to change with Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Their leadership fundamentally transformed America. The cartoon below is example of the mindset that was established in the last century.

Don’t get me wrong I am a fan of the “Little King" comic strips and cartoons. They are truly great works of art. I just don’t agree with the ending. All I can say is where do these people go once the gift of food has been eaten, and they become hungry once again?

Little kings are not the answer.

What Easter Means to Me

This week has been a very trying time for myself. Last Thursday I had a bone graph done on my gums, and have been on medication ever since. This has slowed me down, but I wanted to share with everyone what Easter means to me.

When thinking about Easter, I picture a tomb where the stone has been rolled away. The sun is shinning, the sky is blue, and the birds are singing. Hope fills the air. Despite all the hardships that we face in the world, we have a Savior who defeated death and hell. He lives today in the glory of heaven.

One day he will return, and take those who have accepted him as their personal Savior. Our political leaders, our clergymen, and even loved ones may fail us at times. Also we may let down those who loves us. Just remember Christ has never let mankind down. The empty tomb, where the stone has been rolled away, proves he never fails.

Nimrod and his World Empire

A couple of weeks ago I posted an article about the world before the great flood, according the book of Genesis. Cain and his descendents went into the land of Nod and founded a civilization.

After the flood only Noah and his family survived, which I also discussed in another post. In that article I stated that I write about Nimrod and the world government he founded at Babel.

Four years ago I wrote about Nimrod in a post titled, “The Beginning of Babylon.” Below is part of this article.

Nimrod was the son of Noah's grandson Cush. Genesis 10:9 states that he was "a mighty hunter before the Lord." By reading this passage, you may be given the impression that Nimrod was a good man, but he was not. If he had been the scriptures would have said "a mighty hunter of the Lord." Some Scholars claim that he married his mother.

Verse 10 states that he went into the land of Shinar, (Mesopotamia or Babylon) and founded four kingdoms. The names of these kingdoms were Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh. Afterwards he went into Asshur, (Assyria) and founded Nineveh, Rehoboth, and Calah.

At this time in Biblical History, all the people of the world lived close together, and spoke one language. The city of Babel was the heart of civilization. In Genesis 11, the people decided to build a great tower in Babel. The tower would serve as temple to their strange gods. They also wanted to stand back and say, "Look what we have done with our own hands." While they were building the tower, God came down to Earth and confused their language. The construction of the tower stopped and the people of Earth scattered.

Many Bible scholars believed that the people were divided into three main groups.
They base this on Noah's three sons, Shem, Japheth, and Ham. The descendants of Shem go into to Asia, Japheth's settle in Europe, and Ham's in Africa

After God scattered the people, a group at Babel remained. In Genesis 14, Amraphel of Shinar is one of the Kings who allies with Chedorlamer, King of Elam. They go to war against Sodom, Gomorah, Admah, Zeboiium, and Zoar. This is the first war recorded in the Bible. Some Scholars believe that Amraphel was an ancestor to Nebuchadnezzar.

As most of you know I am teaching the book of Revelation in Sunday School, and will soon bring all this together. Our Founding Fathers knew the scriptures, and gave us government based on the Constitution. They learned from the past that world empires bring tyranny and destruction.

The Days After the Great Flood

Noah and his family were the only ones who survived the great flood. The children of Cain and the civilization they built had been destroyed. The descendents of Cain were brilliant people. One by the name of Jubal was a talented musician and other Tubal-Cain was the first to work with brass Despite their achievements they were wicked people.

The old world was gone, but sin was still present. After Noah’s family settled in a post flood world, he planted a vineyard, and made wine. Unaware that the wine fermented, he became drunk and was naked in his tent. (Some scholars state that there was no fermentation before the flood) Genesis 9:22 states that his youngest son Ham looked at his nakedness, and told his two brothers Shem and Japheth. The two came to theirs father’s rescue and covered him.

When Noah recovered , he realized what his son had done, and put a curse on Ham’s son Canaan. Ham had dishonored his father, and his children would do the same for him. Afterwards, Noah blessed Shem and Japheth. In this period God honored the blessings and curses a father would place on his offspring.

After this incident Genesis 10 gives the table of nations. In Genesis 10:8 Nimrod the son of Noah’s grandson Cush became a “mighty hunter before the Lord.” This would be the man Satan would use to build the first world empire after the flood. This will be covered in the next post.

In my post “The Days Before the Flood,“ one person asked me what did this all have to do with the Constitution Party. Well this is one political party that supports the principles of our Founding Fathers, men who freed us from a world empire. They were also men who freed us from the tyranny of evil kings. This will come together in my next post, which will be titled “Nimrod and His World Empire.”

Turnips are Turnips and Roses are Roses

Once there was a farmer who planted turnips for may years. Each summer he had hopes that beautiful roses would emerge from his turnip patch. Then one day he just gave up and decided to call it quits. He had given up on life.

One evening he stood on a rivers bridge in deep thought. “I think I will end my life,” he said to himself.

“And what purpose would that serve?” The farmer jumped because he thought he was alone. To his right was a man dressed in white with blue eyes and golden hair.

“I have no hope,” he said. “For years I have waited for roses to sprout from my turnip patch. All I want is beautiful roses, and all I ever get is a bunch of stinky turnips. They just refuse to evolve.”

“They will never evolve,” the stranger said. “Turnips are turnips, and roses are roses. Always have and always will be. Stop planting turnips and plant rose bushes.”

The stranger vanished, and the farmer saw the light. “How silly have I been,” he said to himself. “ Turnips are turnips, and roses are roses. Always have and always will be. They will never evolve.”
　

The Days Before the Great Flood

For the first time in many years, I will be teaching Sunday School for the next six months. From March to August we will be looking at the book of Revelation. Some of you know that I have shared some videos I found on YouTube based on this book. While preparing for the class I found some similarities between Genesis and Revelation.

Genesis is book that records the beginning of all things, and Revelation reveals how things will end. One passage in the Bible brings both books together, “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,” (Matthew 24: 37-38)

All through the Bible Satan attempts to destroy everything God has established. Here are some examples.

After the Fall of Man

Cain-Oldest son of Adam and Eve, and was a farmer by occupation. His offering to God was crops from the field, which the Lord rejected.

Abel-Second son of Adam and Eve, and was a shepherd by occupation. His offering was a lamb without blemish. God accepted this offering, and was blessed by God.

Cain’s Wrath- God gave Cain a chance to present an acceptable offering, instead he killed his brother Abel making him the first murderer.

Seth-Third son of Adam and Eve. He obtain his bother’s blessing, and his descendant become the chosen line.

Cain’s Descendents- They built a civilization in the land of Nod, and were very wicked people.

Giants- The descendants of Seth (the Godly line) began to intermarry with the descendants of Cain(the evil line). As a result great giants who were super evil began to roam the earth. Also the human lifespan, before the flood, was over 900 years. Most likely one couple alone was producing children by the hundreds. Things were getting out of control.

The Great Flood-This was God’s first judgment on the world. Only Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives entered the ark. Noah was descendent of Seth, which means the
children of Cain died in the flood.

After the Great Flood

The flood put and end to the world empire Satan had built through the children of Cain. Also the human lifespan was drastically shortend, and the Earth has never totally recovered from the flood.

Also in the book of Revelation another world empire will emerge, and will also face God’s wrath. This is something I will continue to talk about in future post. My next article will talk about the tower of Babel. I wish I could put all this in one post, but that would be impossible. I do promise in the end I will bring all things together.

Ted Kennedy and John Peter Zenger Censored In History

The other day I read a post about Ted Kennedy not being mentioned in a certain history book. The author was highly upset, and raged with anger. I wonder if this same person would be upset to discover that several history books do not mention John Peter Zenger? Most likely she don’t even know the name, and what he is noted for. Sadly, he is great man who is almost forgotten.

The life of John Peter Zenger is true American success story. He was born in Germany and came to America as indentured servant at the of 13. Twenty-five years later, Zenger became publisher of the New York Weekly Journal. The Colonial Governor of New York had Zenger jailed for publishing articles which shed him in a negative light. In 1735 he went to court and the jurors found him not guilty. They had concluded that printing the truth was not slander.

The ruling in the case established freedom of the press for the British Colonies. Although Zenger won his case, both his lawyers were disbarred for representing him. One of the lawyers had actually written the negative articles about the Governor. So James Alexander and Andrew Hamilton should be remembered as well. Both men put their careers on the line for one of our basic rights.

In 1744 Zenger died at the age of 43. Years before our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, Zenger won a victory for freedom. Many claim he was the ball that got things rolling for the cause of liberty,

It is shame that so many people don’t take the time to learn about great men like John Peter Zenger, yet the get hostile over a partisan politician like Ted Kennedy.

Ron Paul Wins CPAC Straw Vote

I am really excited that Ron Paul won the CPAC straw vote. Maybe this is a sign that conservatives are turning toward leaders who are true students of the Constitution. It also seems that we have some true Constitutionalist running for office in 2010.

Rand Paul, son of the Congressman, is seeking the U.S. Senate seat in Kentucky. He has been interviewed many times on national television, which has given the race national exposure.

In my home state of Arkansas, Senator Blanche Lincoln is in serious trouble. This a state where Democrats are generally given a free pass, but times are changing. My friend former State Senator Jim Holt is running in the Republican Primary. Six years ago, Mr. Holt obtained 44% of the vote against Senator Lincoln with very little money.

Also fellow Gather member Tessa Dick is running for Congress, as Libertarian, in California’s 41st district. Her user name on Gather is Tessa Libertarian 4 Congress. Check out her profile and take a look at her post.

These three candidates are all supporters of Ron Paul. Even though the Texas Congressman failed short in his quest for President in 2008, he has left a legacy that is continuing into the 2010 election.

The Four Horseman Of Revelation

A Tribute to Miep Gies: Love and Patriotism

In a previous post I shared the definition of patriot and loyalist according to "Webster's II New College Dictionary". I would like show them again and then point out a key word.

Patriot-One who loves, supports, and defends one’s country.

Loyalist-One who maintains loyalty to a lawful government, political party, or sovereign especially during war or revolutionary change.

Notice that a patriot loves and a loyalist maintains loyalty. I Corinthians 13:3 states, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Love cannot be destroyed, it lives forever. This alone gives patriots power over loyalist.

We find in history patriots who have endured during the most hostile conditions. Look at the life of Miep Gies, one of the people who helped in hiding Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis. She put her life on the line because she believed all people should be free.

On January 11th, Miep Gies died at the age of 100. She didn’t see herself as a hero, but then again true heroes never do. In my mind she was a true matriarch for the cause of freedom. Like all patriots, she had a love for all mankind.

Hitler and the Nazis thought they had set upon an empire for a 1000 years. As we know Hitler and his henchmen met a tragic end, and Nazi Germany lay in ruins. On the other hand , Miep Gies lived a good long life, and was inspiration to many for decades. This alone should tell all loyalist something about the strength found in love and patriotism.

The Twenty-Four Elders and Four Beast

The last few weeks I have been showing some videos that I found on YouTube. I have received permission from the producer to show these videos on my blog. A few years back I wrote two articles on the forth chapter of Revelation. From this chapter we find the twenty-four elders and the four beast who appear before God’s throne.

Below is my opinion on who the twenty-four elders are and what the four beast represent. Also is the digital version of Revelation 4.

Twenty -Four Elders

Old Testament: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, Issachar, Gad, Asher, Naphtalia, Joseph, Benjamin, and Manasseh.

New Testament: Peter, James the Greater, John, Andrew, Matthew, Phillip, Thomas, Bartholomew, James the Lesser, Simon the Zealot, Jude, and Mathias.

Four Beast

First Beast-Lion-Jesus the King-Gospel of Matthew

A Flamingo Among Rhinos

In the last months I have talked about patriots and loyalist. Many accuse me of using labels unjustly, but these are legitimate terms and can be found in "Webster's II New College Dictionary".

Patriot-One who loves, supports, and defends one’s country.

Loyalist-One who maintains loyalty to a lawful government, political party, or sovereign especially during war or revolutionary change.

The term loyalist has a much broader definition, and it can apply to both Democrats and Republicans. Most party loyalist only care about winning elections and pushing their own agenda without any consideration for others. A patriot loves his country regardless of which party is in power. He or she remember those great people, of the past, who made their country great. They are flamingos among rhinos. Now that is a label. LOL!

In a previous post I talked about hearing a kid calling someone else, "A Flamingo Among Rhinos." I thought this label was catchy and decided to use it as my blog's subtitle. Let me clarify something here, I am not calling Republicans flamingos or Democrats rhinos. I see patriots as flamingos, beautiful birds who compliment any setting. On the other hand, many loyalist are like rhinos, territorial and brutal.

In future post I will be given examples of people, in history, who can be classified as patriots or loyalist. They can be found in through the ages and through out the world.

The Shamgar Report Is Five Years Old

The Shamgar Report is now in its fifth year. The story of Shamgar is only found in one verse in the Bible, Judges 3:31. This passage records that he picked up an ox goad, (A pole with a sharp metal point) and killed 600 Philistines. According to the Jewish Historian Josephus, Shamgar died one year after his great feat. This story should be an inspiration to each and every one of us. Never should we be afraid to stand up for what we believe, regardless of the odds.

In the past year, my mind has thought a lot about the true division in America, and I wrote about it this summer. I have been accused of having a simple philosophy, but holding to the values given to us by our creator is not rocket science. Patriots love their country, and cherish freedom for all men. They look beyond now, just like those who met in Philadelphia in 1776. These men thought about the generation who were to live on, even after they were dead and gone.

Loyalist who follow their leaders blindly, develop tunnel vision. They are only concerned with now, and have no gasp of history, heritage, and the future. Just like those who supported King George III, they seek leadership in partisan politics.

The other day I heard one kid describe another kid as being a flamingo among rhinos. I laughed until I cried, but I loved the phrase, and decided to use it as my blog’s subtitle. Flamingos are beautiful birds who compliment any setting, just like a patriot.. Rhinos are territorial and brutal. They don’t blend well with other forms of life, just like loyalist.

In the 2008 Election the rhinos were in full force. The liberals were trashing everyone who opposed Obama. Many even said the Republican Party was dead. They were counting their chickens before they hatched. Even in Massachusetts , that haven for political rhinos, a flamingo can be found.

Also I noticed those who were running me down, stalking me, and saying I was ignorant don’t seem to be online much anymore. It seems the recent Republican victories have silenced them into humility.

Glenn Beck's Christmas Sweater

This holiday season I bought the novel and the picture book version of the” The Christmas Sweater,” by Glenn Beck. From reading both, I am reminded of my own childhood Christmases. My generation were the first group of the really spoiled kids. We were guilty of thinking Christmas was about getting big toys.

When I was seven, men first went to the Moon, space toys flooded the market. One of the most popular was a action figure called Major Matt Mason. I wanted one really bad, and never got one for Christmas or birthday. My brother found his green alien companion at a yard sale, but I was a teen-ager at the time. Today Major Matt Mason is no longer important to me. He has been off the market for decades.

The main character in “The Christmas Sweater” thinks he really deserves a new bike. Like myself, he is a selfish child, but does learn that life is not always easy. This story is based on Mr. Beck’s life, and as an adult he appreciates the lessons learned during childhood. This book really is about all the kids of the 70’s, and how we viewed Christmas.

Last Sunday, my pastor told us that Bethlehem means “house of bread.” On that very first Christmas, mankind was given the gift of bread. This Christmas bread is still available to us today. The most remarkable thing about this gift is free, Also when Major Matt Mason and bicycles are forgotten, the gift of Christ remains.

I know this is not a book review, but reading both books brought back childhood thoughts. It also made me think about what Christmas really is. Those toys we got as kids really don’t matter as life goes on.

Being Harassed by a Democratic Telemarketer

Generally I don’t answer calls on my cell phone when the caller withholds their number. However the other morning I did and immediately told the caller I did not talk to people with unknown numbers. The lady told me her name and said she was with the Democratic Party, and said she would like to ask me a few questions. I said, “No thank you,” and closed my phone.

A couple of minutes later she called back. This time I told her, “Look lady my cell number is private, and I don’t talk to people with hidden numbers. Good day!”

On the third call I simple hit the reject button and immediately she called a forth time. Finally my nerves were on end. “Look her lady!” I shouted, “I have told you I don’t talk to people with withheld numbers, and I am going to call the Democrat party about this harassment you are giving me.”

“I am with the Democrat party,” she replied.

“I know this and we have nothing to talk about.”

“I just want to congratulate you.”

“Well I don’t know why you would. Rarely do I ever vote Democrat, and most likely will never vote for your party again. All you people do is harass others, and try to pressure people to see things your way. Just like Obama is doing now. Instead of calling your party headquarters, I am going to email Glenn Beck.”

After saying all this, she didn’t call a fifth time. The lady harassing me was so surprise, and nothing new. This is not the first time I’ve had a heated conflict with those on the other side of the political fence. What puzzles me the most is how the Democratic party obtained my cell number.

If the calls had come from my landline I would understood since this number is in the phonebook. My cell is private, and only give it to friends and family. Never have I put this number on a form or application. We do live in scary times, especially when things that are private have been violated.

My Daughter's Christmas Sorrow

Last week I went to see my daughter so that we would be able to have an early Christmas. This year it is her mother’s turn, and they will be going to Kansas City. Also it was my only chance to go see her this month. My daughter lives six hours away, and don’t see her very often.

I had already promised we would go shopping and she could plan the rest of the weekend. She wanted to eat at a Greek restaurant, and watch two movies at the theater. It seemed that the weekend was going well, then Anna began to cry.

Anna was only three years old when her mother and I went through a very bitter divorce. As we sat in the hotel room she told me that never would she have a family Christmas, and that I didn’t know how she felt. Then she threw her cell phone. I must admit that I cannot relate with her sorrow since my parents are still married.

However I did point her to Christ and reminded her that on that first Christmas Jesus was in a stable far away from his home in heaven. Christmas should never be about us, we should focus on what Christ did for all mankind. When we put our eyes on him, he will remove all sorrows. I went on tell Anna that when Jesus was here on Earth he suffered from loneliness. Event though I cannot feel her pain Christ can.

A few days later I heard a song where the chorus stated, “There are no strangers, orphans, or outcast with God.” On Christmas Day I plan to text Anna this message. He can give her a Christmas beyond wildest dreams and desires.

Quisp and Quunchy

The last few weeks I have posted some commercials about Quisp cereal. Quisp was taken off the shelf back in the 70‘s. From time to time it had resurfaced in selected markets. Today Quisp can be ordered online, making it the first internet cereal. In this recent commercial Quisp is joined by his sidekick Quunchy. This was produced by creators of The Ren&Stimpy Show.

Palin/Beck in 2012

Let me say upfront this was not my idea before any rocks are thrown in my direction. A coworker told me he heard someone talk about this on a television show. I will admit to being a fan of both Palin and Beck, and most likely this ticket will never come about. However it is very thought provoking.

Just imaging Beck debating Biden. This would probably go down as the most colorful Vice Presidential debate in history. Biden has experience and education, but Beck is man who is self taught, and well read. He is a student of the Constitution and U.S. History. I really think Beck would blow Biden out in a debate.

We only thought we saw inhuman hatred from the far left in the last Presidential Election. The left would really have their fangs watering if those two were on the same ticket in 2012.

Quisp vs. Quangaroos

Quangaroos replaced Quake on the shelves, and Quaker Oats ran a series of commercials where it competed with Quisp. Just has they had done with Quake. Quisp was victorious again, and eventually Quangaroo was taken off the market.
