President Obama’s statement about the Cambridge police has stirred up a controversy, and rightfully so. I agree that police brutality, and racial profiling do exist. However this particular incident is a local government issue, and the President should have kept his mouth shut. In other words it was none of his business.
Our Founding Fathers gave us a government which separates the national and state governments. We call this Federalism. If this particular incident had involved FBI agents, then the President would have the responsibility to look into the matter.
I realize that Obama thinks he has the answer to everything, and those on the Far Left feel the same way. (I know I will get a lecture about a labeling, since I used the term the Far Left. LOL!) Still it is an issue that involves the local police, and should be dealt with on the state and local level.

Is Sonia Sotomayor the Next Charles Evans Huges?
Since yesterday I have been on a quest to find this last great Justice who has set upon the nation's highest court. Sen. Chuck Schumer said that Judge Sonia Sotomayor is the most qualified candidate in one hundred years. So my quest began.
I surprised to find that all these candidates were nominated by Republican Presidents. Yesterday, in another post, I listed who these men were. Not satisfied with these results, my quest took me to the Olberman Report on MSNBC. Keith Olberman stated that Judge Sotomayor was the most qualified candidate in seventy years, so I continued researching again.
Once again I found Justices nominated by Republican Presidents. Charles Evan Hughes' name showed up again, this time he was appointed Chief Justice by Republican President Herbert Hoover. Hughes also was a Republican Candidate for President in 1916. The other Justice was Harlan Fiske Stone nominated by Republican President Calvin Coolidge. Fiske also served as Coolidge's Attorney General. Later Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt nominated him to be Chief Justice. I guess President Roosevelt was unable to find a qualified Democrat. Schumer and Olberman could be on to something.
Still I am puzzled at who this last qualified candidate is. Right now I will assume it is Charles Evans Hughes. It was almost a hundred years ago when he was appointed Associate Justice, and over seventy when he became Chief Justice. Is this the man Schumer and Olberman are talking about? He was a Republican but he was also a Progressive. So I guess it is possible they are comparing Judge Sotomayor To Chief Justice Hughes

The Last Most Qualified Candidate for the Supreme Court
Senator Chuck Shumer refereed to Judge Sonia Sotomayor as the most qualified candidate for the Supreme Court in the last one hundred years. Most Democrats generally don't go this far back in history. Most of them only talk about the last eight years. However I thought Shumer was a man who was totally partisan. After I looked at those candidates of the last one hundred years, maybe he can be bipartisan.
In 1910, Republican President Howard Taft appointed Horace Harmon Lurton, and Charles Evan Hughes to the high court. I doubt Mr. Schumer is talking about these two men. 1910 falls short just a little of being a hundred years. Plus Lurton was served in Confederate Army. So let rule these two men out, and go back just a few more years. This will takes us to William Henry Moody.
Moody was appointed in 1906 by Republican Teddy Roosevelt. Previously he had been a Congressman, Secretary of the Navy, and Attorney General. He had experience in all three branches of government. A truly qualified man. Sadly Moody retired in 1910 due to poor health. I guess Schumer sees Sotomayor as the next Moody in terms of qualifications.
I am truly happy to see Schumer finally admit that none of Democrat Presidents, of the last century, appointed a justice with the qualifications of Republican Justice Moody

Lanny Davis on Hannity
In another article, I said that most liberals always appear unhappy or hateful. Last night former Clinton White House Counsel Lanny Davis was a guest on Hannity. I will admit that Mr. Davis seems to be a nice man with a sense of humor. He was also very respectful, and did not get angry over political debate. For myself I have focused on liberals like Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Al Franken, and some of the things which have been said to me by bloggers.
Lanny Davis is proof that a person can be likeable, even though you may disagree with them politically. I think Lanny and I would become friend if we ever met. This would not be the case with Frank, Schumer, or Franken. I am sure they are sour and hateful in person, as they are on television.
As for liberal bloggers, most do not like me at all. This does not seem to be the case in everyday life. The last three woman I have dated were Democrats and voted for Obama. I know most find that shocking. LOL! In the real world, most people find me a very nice person. Many may find this also shocking.

My Thoughts On Palin's Resignation.
The resignation of Sarah Palin, as Alaska's Governor, seems to be the talk of the town. Of course her opponent's use this moment to throw their trash. It is one thing to talk about a politician, but their children should be respected. When an adult makes fun of a child, just to get a cheap laugh, it is a sign that they are the lowest form of humanity. I get many lectures about labels, but people who publicly make fun of kids are nothing but human trash.
I have one daughter, who is very important to me. No position or any amount of money can replace her. When I make a big decision in life, she is always considered. This may be the case with Palin. Since her children are not respected, she may see it necessary to end her political career. We really don't know all what damages, from within, have been caused by David Letterman himself. No apology can really repair damages done to the heart, especially with a child.
I know many see it as a time to celebrate, that is your right. At least respect her kids.

Peppermint or Liberty
Peppermint
A soothing flavor
For the breath
Yet it fades
As the hands of the clock move
The taste always ends
Liberty
The gift of freedom
Paid with blood
And brave sweat
As the hands of the clock move
The taste can remain
Destiny
Can be decided
Liberty
Peppermint
As the hands of clock move
Which taste will you choose
A shadorma for the 4th of July.
