The other day I received an email from my friend, former State Senator Jim Holt of Srpingdale. He informed me that Rep. Linsley Smith, a Democrat from Fayetteville, intoduced a bill to the House Committee on State Agencies on Governmental Affairs making ERA law in Arkansas.
HJC1002 needed 11 votes to make it to the House floor, but received only 10 votes. I am sad to say that my own representative, Eddie Cheatham, a Democrat from Crossett, voted for this measure.
Mr. Holt was informed that Rep. Smith plans to reintroduce this bill back to the committee. I fear that if HJC1002 ever makes it to Gov. Mike Beebe, he will sign it into law.
If a liberal wins the presidency in 2008, I feel that ERA will raise it's ugly head again. Especially if the Democrats maintain Congress.

State Senate and HB1024
HB 1024 is a bill that prohibits the state from hiring contractors who hire illegal aliens. Sometime back I posted members of the House who voted against it, and those who didn’t have the guts to vote either way.
Now I am doing the same with the members of the Senate. Sorry for the delay but I have been working many hours at work, and out of town when off. Also the Arkansas State Legislature is trying to revive ERA. Next week I will write a more detailed article on this.
Senators who voted against HB 1024 {All Democrats)
Steve Bryles-Blytheville
Jim Luker-Wynne
Sue Madison-Fayetteville
Coward Senators who didn’t have the guts to vote either way.
(Once again All Democrats)
Mary Anne Salmon-North Little Rock
Jerry Taylor-Pine Bluff
Hank Wilkins IV-Pine Bluff
Jim Hill-Nashville
Pam Miller-Melbourne

King Danny O'Beam
King Danny O' Beam
The Shamrock of Grand Ireland
Rode a pearl white steed
A legend to be
Loved by many wrestling fans
But his fame went splat
When he was whipped by the champ
In three minutes flat
Today Danny plays music
With an Irish ballad band
This was poem I wrote sometime back for St. Patrick's Day. "King Danny O'Beam" was published in my book, "Tales of the Carnovorous Duck: A Collection of Stories and Poems."
I am also posting this for this weeks Ringing of the Bards.

Kat Swift the Mystery Candidate
In February I had planned to do my third party presidential profile on Kat Swift, who is seeking the Green Party nomination. She did sent me an email giving me permission to profile her on The Shamgar Report. Just as I did with Gene Amondson, I sent her a list of questions, but she has yet to reply. Once wikipedia.com mentioned her in their article on the 2008 presidential race. In the last few weeks the few sentences about Kat Swift have been edited from the article.
Ms. Swift does have a website, but it provides very little information. The website does have her photo, and I will admit that she is the prettiest of all the candidates. So far I know she is in her thirties and is the youngest person running for office of President.
Squidoo.com provides some more insight on who Kat Swift is. She has served as co-chair of the Texas Green Party, and was elected as the official spokesman for the Green Party’s National Women’s Conference
From her website, www.bexargreens.org/katforprez/, you will find the issues she supports. Kat Swift supports a peace tax, ERA, raising the minimum wage, and ending voter fraud.
If Ms. Swift ever answers the questions I sent her, I will post them. So far her candidacy seems to be a mystery.

The 70's Guy Passes Away
Professional wrestler Michael Lee Alfonso, known as Mike Awesome, was found dead at his home on February 17th. It is believed he committed suicide. Awesome gained fame in WCW for 70’s gimmick. Later he put away his 70’s attire and joined Team Canada. He also for a time the ECW World Champion. For a full biography on Mike Awesome go to wikipedia.com.
Mike Awesome Rest In Peace.
I had planned to write about Mr. Awesome sooner, but my old computer crash. Since I am not a technical person, it took me some time to set my new computer up.

The Ozark Musician
At a small tourist town
In the middle of the hills
Stands a bearded man
Sporting a derby
And shiny cowboy boots
Strumming his banjo
Folk music flows through the fresh
Windy mountain air
Soothing the tired traveler
A symbol of this nation
From the Ozark heart
Keeping a culture alive
With a rare talent
And a simple instrument
That few people play today
A friend of mine ask me to post this poem that I wrote sometime back. Sunny this is for you.
